This is a one year optional programme taken after the Junior Certificate and before a Leaving Certificate Programme. The purpose of the programme is to promote maturity.
The Transition year programme in Clonfert College has proven to be a very popular option among our students. The success of the programme is a tribute to the talents, creativity and commitment of the teachers who are involved. Our aim is to ensure that our students can enjoy and benefit from the broadest possible educational experiences. Students are given the opportunity once more to try out a wide range of subjects for the year before they make their subject choice for Leaving Certificate.

- Maturity in relation to work and careers by developing work-related skills.
- Personal maturity by providing opportunities to develop communication skills, selfconfidence and a sense of responsibility.
- Social maturity by developing greater people skills and more awareness of the world outside school.
